Donald Roy Trease
Donald Roy Trease, 91, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 1:05 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw at the age of 91.
He was born on July 12, 1921, in Donaldson, Ind., to Grover and Esther (Johnson) Trease. On Oct. 5, 1947, he was married to Mary Miller, who survives.
Donald was a 1939 graduate of West Township High School in Marshall County, Ind. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II in the European Theater, he was honorably discharged and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He moved to Warsaw 46 years ago, retiring in 1983 after 37 years with United Telephone Company. He was a 46 year member of Kiwanis International-Warsaw, serving as president in 1971; member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church of Warsaw; as well as an avid fisherman and gardener.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Mary Trease, Warsaw; one son: Don Trease, Warsaw; one daughter: Marie (Mauri) Bordner, Columbia City, Ind.; one granddaughter: Maureen (Jeremy) Freeman, Columbia City; one grandson: Mason (Sonja) Bordner, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren: Eden, Grant, Wyatt and Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister: Mildred Henry.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw and officiated by Pastor Steve Ailes. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
