The Kosciusko County Central Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call at 1:28 p.m. today from a clerk at the Leesburg Freedom Express gas station, 201 N. Main St., Leesburg, who stated she had just been robbed at knife-point.
Officers were advised that the possible suspect vehicle was a tan colored mini-van, possibly a GM or Chevrolet product that appeared to have left the location northbound.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives stated the clerk and other witnesses described the suspect as a male white, in his mid- to late 20’s, with short, blonde hair that was spiked on top. The male suspect had a thin build and weighs approximately 120 to 130 lbs. He was described as being about 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 8 inches tall with partial facial growth/stubble. He was wearing a black T-shirt with blue jeans.
Witnesses also described a front seat passenger of the get-away-vehicle as a white female with short, brown curly hair, possibly a perm. There were also two children present in the suspect vehicle with one of the juveniles described as possibly a 4- to 6-year-old female with blonde hair.
Witnesses from the scene told police the male suspect had originally filled his vehicle with gasoline and entered into the location and began to retrieve various grocery items. While inside the store, he had made comments to the fact that his wife had just recently been to a doctor’s appointment on the previous day for her pregnancy. As he approached the store clerk he banished a black handled, single bladed knife demanding cash. An undisclosed amount of currency was taken in the robbery as the suspect fled in the van.
