Accidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
- Friday, Aug. 24, 8 a.m. Winona Avenue. Drivers: Virgil Rowe, 44, 6687 E. Old Rd. 30, Pierceton; and Merl Heckamen, 74, 1799, W. 350 South, Warsaw. Rowe backed out of Speedway parking lot and was rear-ended by Heckman. Damages: up to $2,500
- Friday, Aug, 7:29 a.m. Logan Street. Drivers: Jessica Sweatland, 18, 243 E. Birchwood Ct., Warsaw; Hannah Boal, 17, 2664 Harmony Ct., Winona Lake; and Laura Mosquera, 787 W. Center St., Warsaw. Sweatland struck Boal’s vehicle, which was pushed in Mosqueda’s vehicle. Damages: up to $25,000
- Thursday, Aug. 23, 10:15 a.m. Detroit and Jalynn Streets. Drivers: Matthew Winrotte, 39, 10810 Cardinal Dr., Plymouth; and Dixie Pifer, 53, 1611 E. Main St., Warsaw. Winrotte drove through a light, heading east, and struck Pifer’s vehicle. Damages: up to $25,000
- Friday, Aug. 24, 11:26 p.m. U.S. 30 East. Driver: Jaylene Blackenship, 38, 11370 S. 200 West, Silver Lake. Blackenship struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
- Friday, Aug. 24, 11:12 p.m. U.S. 30 East. Driver: Ian Blackie, 59, 264 E. Turnberry Rd., Winona Lake. Deer struck side of Blackie’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
- Saturday, Aug. 25, 11:50 a.m. Main and Buffalo Streets. Drivers: Norman Brown, 83, 1819 Cresent Rd., Warsaw; and Adam Aners, 37, 2199 W. 250 South, Warsaw. Brown drove into the intersection and struck Ander’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:
- Aug. 24, 12:40 p.m. Ellen Schwendeman, Warsaw, reported finding a black bag of medical and first aid supplies.
- Aug. 24, 12:40 p.m. Police arrested Ann Castle, Warsaw, for battery at Bowen Center Inpatient Unit.
- Aug. 24, 8:03 p.m. Kayla Espinoza, Warsaw, reported a theft from her purse.
- Aug. 24, 8:41 p.m. Kile Patrick, Warsaw, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.
- Aug. 25, 3:52 p.m. Leyon Gillam, Warsaw, was arrested for driving while a habitual traffic offender for life.
- Aug. 25, 12:25 p.m., Daren Maierle, Warsaw, reported an unauthorized transaction on his back account.
- Aug. 25, 12:36 p.m. Hector Alvarado, Warsaw, reported that his house had been broken in to over night.
- Aug. 25, 2:16 p.m. Dave Essig, Warsaw, reported damage to a rental property on Kincaid Street.
- Aug. 26. Brittany Ritcher, Warsaw, was arrested on a warrant.
- Aug. 26, 8:25 p.m. Charles Clemens, Leesburg, was arrested for being a habitual traffic violator.
- Aug. 26, 2:12 a.m. Police pursed a white male in a red or maroon Dodge Durango who refused to stop.
- Aug. 25, 10:28 p.m. Kristina Cochran, Warsaw, reported a theft from her vehicle which included a diamond ring and $350 in cash.
