Rick J. McKenzie
Rick J. McKenzie, 54, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8:15 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Warsaw Meadows Care Center
On July 31, 1957, he was born to Jack and Phyllis (Shriver) McKenzie in Warsaw. On Nov. 24, 2004, he married Susan King in Columbia City. She preceded him in death on Aug. 13, 2005.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Rick graduated from Whitko High School in 1976. He ran track, winning several ribbons and played on the first football team at Whitko. He also worked in carpentry and helped his dad with farming. He worked for Guardian Industries for six years and became an ordained minister on June 28, 2012.
Rick was a member of Warsaw Family Worship Center. He loved to race, work on cars and watching his brother and nephew stock car race. He also loved to camp.
He is survived by two children: Jearme, Fort Polk, La.; and Melissa, North Manchester, Ind.; his father: Jack McKenzie, Warsaw; one sister: Cathy Cox, Warsaw; three brothers: Mike Shepherd, Silver Lake, Ind.; Tony McKenzie, Claypool, Ind.; and Ron McKenzie, Claypool; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m., Monday in the funeral home with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery at a later date.
