Thieves Target Lakes Areas
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating a series of thefts that have been occurring over the last two weeks around area lakes.
Money, electronics and other items have been reported stolen from vehicles left unlocked and parked outside in the overnight hours. KCSD Public Information Officer Sgt. Chad Hill said in every instance the vehicles were left unlocked.
Detectives are currently investigating approximately 10 thefts from the Barbee Lakes area, 8 from the Chapman Lake area and two that have occurred most recently in the Tippecanoe Lake area.
Residents and guests are encouraged to lock their vehicles at all times to prevent the thefts. “In every case the detectives say the vehicles were entered, not broken into,” said Hill. “It’s still a crime, but it could be avoided in people would just lock their vehicles.”
