College Football HOF Hosting Festival
Some of the biggest names in college football history will be in South Bend this coming weekend for the 2012 Enshrinement Festival at the College Football Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2012, which includes a total of 23 inductees, features Eddie George, Deion Sanders and Lloyd Carr. George won the Heisman Trophy as a star running back at Ohio State from 1992-95. Sanders, a flamboyant personality, was a standout defensive back at Florida State from 1985-88 and is the only professional athlete to ever win both a Super Bowl and a World Series. Carr coached at Michigan from 1995-2007, guiding the Wolverines to a national championship in 1997.
A host of festival activities are planned for Friday and Saturday (July 20-21) in and around the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown South Bend. The Hall of Fame itself will be open from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The slate of free activities Friday will run from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. featuring a Block Party and Ribs Cook-Off on the Gridiron Plaza at the HOF. There will also be several concerts throughout the day, including one from 8:30-11 p.m. by Stillshot. The Hall of Famer Pep Rally and Blazer Presentation is scheduled for 7:15-8 p.m. Friday night.
The Saturday slate has a Reception and Silent Auction from 6-7:30 p.m. followed by the Enshrinement Dinner and Show starting at 7:30. A ticket is required for both of these events, which will be held in the Century Center in downtown South Bend (across the street from the HOF).
Tickets for Saturday’s events are $175 per person, $50 for children and $1,200 for a table of eight. For more information, contact the Hall of Fame at 1-800-440-FAME from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
