Robert R. Pittenger
Robert R. Pittenger, 62, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, VA Northern Indiana Health Care Systems Fort Wayne Campus.
On Dec. 18, 1949, in Glasgow, Mt., he was born to Carl and Margaret (Bayliss) Pittenger. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He married Cheryl Bowers on April 1, 1983, in Bremen, Ind. He was a Union Carpenter, building schools, post offices and many different commercial buildings. Robert enjoyed building furniture and bird houses.
Robert is survived by his wife: Cheryl Pittenger, Warsaw; his children: Alissha (Eli) Shepherd, Warsaw; Joshua Pittenger, Fort Wayne; Carmella (Mike) Harnishfeger, Lindenhurst, Ill.; Rebecca (Brett) Newstorm, Gurnee, Ill.; and Karl (Maggie) DeMunda, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
No calling is planned. There will a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Honors by the Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Indiana ARNG Military Detail at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13. Burial will be in Veterans Circle Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Pastor Rob Harrison (Good Shepherd Church, Winona Lake) will officiate the service.
