Motel Again Site of Drug Arrest

In recent weeks Warsaw Police have been called to the Economy Inn in Warsaw numerous times, and several times have made drug arrests. It was the same scenario Tuesday.

On Tuesday, July 3, while officers were at the motel at 3521 Lake City Highway, Warsaw, for an unrelated matter, they noticed the strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from one of the rooms.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Blaine Allen Sawyer, 44, of Edwardsburg, Mich. Seized in the arrest was also 382 grams of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a vehicle.

The amount of marijuana and packaging indicated that Sawyer was involved in the dealing/sale of the drug. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of dealing marijuana, a class C felony. Initially no bond was set.

Warsaw Police continue to investigate this matter. They were assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office.

  1. Maybe the town should be more worried about the Economy Inn as a blight to our town instead of being so worried about what signs are doing to the image.

  2. Will someone PLEASE tell me why this hotel is still in business? It is the second hotel you come across once entering this so called “Wonderful Community” yet these are the activities that are taking place right out in the open? Why isn’t the owner being held responsible for any of the illegal matters that occur there? What is it going to take to have the place shut down and made into something more useful?
