F. Dean Decker
F. Dean Decker, 87, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:50 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Warsaw, to Fred and Lorena (Correll) Decker. He entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 12, 1944, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on June 29, 1946. He married Martha Baumgartner on Aug. 17, 1946, in Warsaw.
Decker was a 1943 graduate of Mentone High School; member of American Legion Post #49; avid reader; loved target shooting; removed nuisance animals; loved big band music; enjoyed gin rummy and euchre; farmer who loved the earth and enjoyed watching his crops grow and produce; he loved and was proud of his family; was very protective of his girls.
He is survived by his wife: Martha J. Decker, Warsaw; five daughters: Judy K. Coplen, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Barbara (Bruce) Smith, Leo, Ind.; Cathy (Paul) Northcutt, Warsaw; Deanna (Jim) Swain, Cromwell, Ind.; Linda (Craig) Doran, Burket, Ind.; four grandchildren: Zachary (Melissa) Smith, Amanda Smith, Brittany Northcutt, Ashley Owens; and two great-grandchildren: Kerrick and Korra.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Nelson and Dortha Tucker; and a brother: Dale Decker.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Beezley, Clunette United Methodist Church, Clunette, Ind. Burial will follow in Harrison Center, Etna Green, Ind. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others in Dean’s memory.
