Officers met with a male victim who claimed he was walking near the intersection of Canterbury Lane and Sophie Lane when a male suspect walked up behind him and pushed a small round object into his back and said he was not going to hurt him but asked if he had any money. The victim said he had only $10 and handed it to the suspect, who then ran east down Sophie Lane toward Husky Trail.
The victim said the suspect was dressed all in black and he did not see the suspect’s face. The victim described the suspect as 6-feet 4-inches tall, 250 pounds, and believed him to be white after seeing his hands. The suspect was described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and the words “Tap Out” in white lettering on the back. The suspect’s pants were described as black jeans with some type of blue design on the pockets.
There was no mention of a weapon and the victim never saw a weapon of any type. The victim stated that the object that was placed in his back was covered in some type of cloth.
Winona Lake, Indiana State Police, and Warsaw officers, including a K9, searched the area but found nothing.
