Fourth of July Events Noted
Following is a list of area events and fireworks displays for the upcoming 4th of July Holiday. Please note that a current burn ban in the county means individuals are not permitted to use fireworks. The displays announced here are organized displays that will be conducted in the presence of area fire departments.
Winona Lake
Winona Lake will celebrate the Fourth of July Saturday, June 30, at Winona Lake Park on Park Avenue. The day begins with a Firecracker 5K run at 8 a.m.; registration is at 7 a.m. The route is along the greenway into Southtown Estates addition and back. Following the 5K, the parade lineup is 11:15 a.m. and starts at noon. This year’s parade theme is likely circus related. Prizes will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. on center stage. Following the parade is a cutie contest for boys and girls ages 4 years to 6 years old with registration from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., private interviews 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and awards at 4 p.m. Clowns with face painting and inflatables are
available 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., as well as a variety of food and craft vendors, a live DJ and a car show. Car show registration is 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with awards at 4:15 p.m.
MasterWorks Patriotic Pops Concert will play at the outdoor amphitheater across from Village at Winona, 1000 Park Ave., at 7:30 p.m. The day will conclude with fireworks over Winona Lake at dusk.
Webster Lake
View Webster Lake’s fireworks at dusk Saturday, July 7, from North Webster Town Park, or watch aboard the Dixie Boat. The Dixie departs at 9 p.m. from the park with on-board patriotic music. Concessions will include popcorn, cold drinks, candy, specialty items for July 4 and glow sticks. A limited number of tickets costing $10 person (limited to 130) will be on sale beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Lake View Pizza King by the boat dock.
WPOA Wawasee Fireworks
Fireworks display on Lake Wawasee will be 10:15 p.m. Saturday, July 7. Willie 103.5 will be broadcasting the music. Enjoy the show from the shore at Wawasee Family Fishing Area, 8520 E. Hatchery Road, Oakwood Park, Oakwood Circle Drive, or hop in the boat and head to the middle of the lake. Fireworks are funded by the Wawasee Property Owners Association.
Syracuse Lake
Syracuse Lake Association sponsors fireworks over Syracuse Lake each year. This year’s show will be held at dusk Wednesday, July 4. View the display at Lakeside Park, 1014 N. Long Drive, or watch from a boat or pier.
Tippecanoe Lake
Tippecanoe Lake’s fireworks will begin at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, over the lake weather permitting. Earlier in the day, the boat flotilla begins at Patona Bay Marina with registration at 9 a.m. This year’s theme is patriotic with red, white and blue. Boats tour the shore line of the lake.
