NW Library News
The North Webster Library has over 2,000 audio books available to check out. We have fiction as well as nonfiction audio books in all kinds of genres, so you’re bound to find lots of titles to interest you and your family. In addition to our large collection of adult titles, the Youth Services Department also offers over 200 children’s audio books to keep the kids entertained in the car and help curb the every few miles “Are we there yet?” While audio books are the perfect travelling companion, they are also ideal for those who have difficulty reading, have limited eyesight, or simply don’t enjoy reading, but love a great story.
The NW Library also participates in the statewide Indiana Digital Consortium that enables our patrons to download audio books on their e-readers, mobile devices, iPods®, computers, or laptops. All you need to download audio or electronic books is an internet connection, library card, and library-issued PIN. Simply log on to Digital Consortium, browse, and download. If you’re technologically challenged, bring your e-reader or mobile device to the library and the staff will gladly show you how to download books.
For those staying close to home this week, there are plenty of things going on at the Library. Family Movie Time will be Thursday, June 28, with two showings at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Bring a beverage, munch on free popcorn, and enjoy this two-hour PG rated movie about a dramatic rescue of a family of whales trapped beneath the ice.
On June 29, Friday Family Food and Fun will offer camping-themed crafts and snacks at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required to attend one of the three time sessions. The library’s new Round Robin Euchre Club meets from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, in the Local History and Genealogy Center. Bring your card playing friends and snacks to share.
The Friends of the Library’s Mega Book Sale is June 28-30. This three-day event is the organization’s biggest sale of the year with thousands of gently used books, DVD’s, VHS tapes, CD’s, long playing albums, and puzzles available at dirt cheap prices. The sale will be held in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. All proceeds from the sale go to support the Library.
