KBOR Scholarships Awarded
Hannah Alber is the daughter of Mark and Shelly Alber, Warsaw. Hannah is a graduate of Warsaw Community High school and is planning on attending Indiana Wesleyan University to obtain a degree in nursing. In addition to numerous school activities, she is an active member of her church and community. Peggi Lisenbee-Wright, executive director of Combined Community Services where Hannah volunteers, shared with the selection committee, “Hannah is an excellent example of the best in our youth today. Hannah lives her Christian principles in every aspect of her life, and is uncommonly mature in her goals and morals.”
Justin Fick is the son of Johnnie and the late Bernard Fick, Syracuse. Justin graduated from Wawasee High School and will be attending Indiana University Bloomington to begin his studies in pre-medicine, with an end goal of becoming an anesthesiologist. In addition to his school curriculum and church activities, Justin was a three-sport athlete for all four years of high school. WHS head football coach Tom Wogomon stated of Justin, “I have always believed that any individual must be passionate or driven before true success can occur. Justin possesses these characteristics.”
Myra Hooks is the daughter of Aaron and Terrill Hooks, Warsaw. Now that Myra has graduated from WCHS, she will be attending Wheaton College in the fall. Myra’s aspiration is to obtain her four year degree and then continue on to attend medical school and become a doctor. In addition to editor-in-chief of the yearbook and freshman mentoring and tutoring, Myra was the president of student council her senior year. John Snyder, teacher at Warsaw Community High School, related to the selection committee, “Myra balances family obligations, school and church activities while still maintaining high standards for academics. She certainly possesses the attributes to make a very positive difference in the lives of others.”
