All swim lessons have been moved to Pike Lake Beach for the day.
The beach closing is being done as a precautionary measure as the most recent E. coli test results came back showing high levels. However, Staci Young of the parks department says, “We are trying to stress that it is precautionary, and that the E. coli counts aren’t dangerous unless someone ingests a lot of water. Contact with the water won’t cause someone to become sick from the E. coli.”
Part of the problem with the high bacteria levels is the lack of rain. The beach will be closed until further notice.
