Preschool Summer Story Time has also begun on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and the Friday Family Food and Fun session on Friday, June 15, was booked full as kids enjoyed crafts and a snack.
There are still plenty more activities to come. The final Stuffed Animal Sleepover will be June 26 and 27 when children leave their stuffed animals overnight at the Library and return the next morning for juice, doughnuts, and a slide-show of their toys’ nighttime adventures.
Another Family Movie Time is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, June 28. Bring the whole family for free popcorn and a showing of a family drama about a family of whales trapped beneath the ice and their unforgettable rescue. This two-hour movie is rated PG. Seating is limited, so get your free tickets at the Youth Services Desk one hour prior to show time. The next Friday Family Food and Fun session will be Friday, June 29, with a camping theme. Parents must register their child prior to June 29 to attend one of three time slots at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m.
For the adults, the Women’s Self-Defense class takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23. In this class, sponsored jointly by the Library and North Webster Community Center, women ages 12 and up will learn how to avoid dangerous situations and how to defend themselves against attack. The cost of the class is $10 per student, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Sign up and pay your class fee at the North Webster Community Center office.
The Voyager Book Club meets at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25. The group will be discussing a mystery they have each read. The Voyager Book Club allows participants the freedom of reading any book they want within a specific genre, then getting together to share what they’ve read. The Adult Service Department also offers the READ Book Club in which participants all read the same book each month and then meet to discuss it. The READ Book Club meets the third Monday every month at 5:30 p.m. This month’s selection is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
The Friends of the Library will hold its Mega Book Sale on Thursday through Saturday, June 28-30. This is the FOL’s biggest book sale of the year. Thousands of gently used books, DVD’s, VHS tapes, CD’s, long playing albums, and puzzles will be available for sale at bargain prices, starting as low as 25 cents. All proceeds go to support the Library. The sale will be set up in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. You’ll find great bargains for the whole family while supporting your Library.
