The Tippecanoe Valley softball team saw its season end Monday evening with a 10-0 loss to Lakeland in first-round play of the Class 3-A Fairfield Sectional.
Ashlynn Grubb fired a no-hitter for Lakeland. She had seven strikeouts and one walk in the victory. Grubb also had three hits and three RBI.
Kassidy Shepherd took the pitching loss for the Vikings.
Lakeland advances to play the host Falcons in a semifinal game at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Wawasee then meets NorthWood in Tuesday’s second game. The championship contest is slated for Thursday at 7 p.m.
No. 7 Fairfield scored three runs in their final at-bat to outscore West Noble 9-7 in the second game Monday. Fairfield (23-7) had lost to West Noble 3-2 on Thursday.
Tanya Schrock had two hits and four RBI to lead the Falcons. Brooke Ostrander had three hits and two RBI and winning pitcher Morgan Miller (who did not pitch in Thursday’s game) had two hits and two RBI.
