Tigers Celebrate Senior Night In Style
Warsaw’s loaded boys golf team made it a Senior Night to remember Thursday.
The No. 6 Tigers, coached by Ben Barkey, completed their third straight undefeated season with another dominating performance.
Junior Jon Schram captured medalist honors with a 33, including an eagle on No. 6, as Warsaw bested NorthWood and Goshen in Northern Lakes Conference play at the Stonehenge Golf Club.
The host Tigers shot 140 to easily beat the previously undefeated Panthers (157) and the Redskins (174).
Warsaw’s senior trio of Tyler Ostrom, Bennett Hollar and Viraj Gokhale all played big parts in the wins.
Ostrom, the defending state champion, shot a 35. He also had an eagle on the No. 6 hole. Hollar shot a 37 for the Tigers, who improved to 11-0 overall and finished NLC play at 7-0.
Gokhale, making his varsity debut, finished with a 39 for the Tigers.
Junior Tim Ahlersmeyer shot 35 for Warsaw in the pair of conference wins.
Payton Grubbs led NorthWood (14-1, 6-1) with a 34. Alex Hartsoug shot 40 to pace Goshen.
The Warsaw JV team also capped an undefeated season by whipping the Panthers and the Redskins.
Jonny Hollar and Evan Cultice each shot a 38 for low individual scores to pace the Tiger JV team. Warsaw (11-0, 7-0) shot 155, while NorthWood finished at 178 and Goshen 218.
Ryan Cultice shot 39 and Jared Essig and Will Petro each had a 40 for the JV Tigers.
Warsaw competes in the NLC Tournament Saturday at the Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart. First tee time for the Tigers is slated for 9:50 a.m.
