SOFTBALL SQUAD POSTS NLC WIN
The Warsaw softball team wrapped up Northern Lakes Conference play Thursday night with a 7-1 victory at Elkhart Memorial.
Senior star Kelsey Dotson smacked a two-run homer, her ninth of the season, to pace the Tigers. The IU-bound catcher also had three RBI in the league win.
Warsaw, who will play Memorial Monday in the sectional opener back at EMHS, improved to 17-9 overall and finishes 11-3 in the NLC to finish in second place behind Northridge (14-0).
Freshman Taylor Stiver fired a five-hitter in the circle to notch her second pitching win for Warsaw.
Seniors Kendra Marshall and Kaleigh Speicher each had a double and two RBI for the Tigers.
Warsaw plays at Tippecanoe Valley Friday.
CHARGERS OUTSCORE TIGERS
Visiting Elkhart Memorial outscored Warsaw 11-9 in a Northern Lakes Conference baseball contest Thursday at WCHS.
Shay Hepler had two hits, including a triple, to lead the Tigers. Kyle Morris also had two hits for the hosts.
Memorial improves to 9-17 overall and finishes 7-7 in the NLC. Warsaw drops to 10-15 overall and finishes 5-9 in league play.
Warsaw hosts Fort Wayne Snider Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Tiger Tourney.
The Warsaw JV capped a strong season with an 8-7 win over Memorial Thursday.
Peter Shepherd had two hits and Cody Bixler notched the pitching win for Warsaw, which finishes 18-7 overall and 11-3 in the NLC.
FROSH BASEBALL ENDS SEASON
The Warsaw freshman baseball team concluded its season with a 6-4 loss to Goshen Wednesday.
The Tigers finish the 2012 campaign with a final record of 5-3.
