Gas Station Robbery, Auto Thefts Investigated
Area police are investigating an early morning robbery and auto thefts that occurred in Kosciusko and Wabash counties overnight.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a 911 call at the McClure Oil gas station, 9311 S. SR 15, Silver Lake, at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in reference to a robbery. As officers were en route to the location, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Kevin Gelbaugh located an unoccupied black 1997 Ford Mustang in the area of County Road 950 South and County Road 200 West. It was determined the vehicle was used by the robbery suspects to flee the scene.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s detectives investigating the robbery were informed that two Caucasian males had entered the business wearing black hooded sweatshirts and had their faces covered. The suspects, estimated to be in their late 20’s, took an undetermined amount of cash from the register as well as numerous cigarettes.
In the course of the investigation detectives also discovered that the Ford Mustang, and a 1995 Chevy Camaro, had been stolen from a North Manchester car lot overnight.
This morning, Kosciusko County detectives were contacted by Wabash County Sheriff’s Department deputies that the stolen Camaro had been recovered in their county. North Manchester, Wabash and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s departments are currently working together at this time on information related to the investigation. Citizens who might have information related to the overnight crimes are encouraged to call any of the three law enforcement agencies.
